Penny came up and saw Colin Hay with me at the Swyer Theater in the Egg. Much different show than the last time she was here (Jakob Dylan) Colin Hay puts on the best show ever, he is hilarious. Tells a story, sings a song, goes into another story or two...
Not every story is completely hilarious. On his new record there's a song "water over you". He talked about it being a family joke that the old movies would have somebody passed out or injured etc, and soon as water splashed them, they woke up...His dad would wake him up by saying 'water over you'. So the heartbreaking thing about that song is that he wrote it for his dad, who died not that long ago. Colin said he's doing better, he can actually talk about it now...ouch. He talked a lot about his family. He was very gracious, stayed after to do the meet and greet. Oh and he said he wore the kilt because he didn't have any clean trousers.
