ENA Conference, San Antonio TX

Spent Wednesday to Sunday in San Antonio.  Lots of great information, and I was glad I went.  Have tons to say about it, but just not right now.  I'll have to come back to this post sometime and detail what and why it was great.

Meeting J - part 2

Drove J around Center Square neighborhood so he could see the potential for living there.  He mentioned feeling bad about Hawaiian Girlfriend.  I did not drive into a parked car at that revelation, which I think was pretty good on my part. Ok, so it's weird and uncomfortable, and I don't really know what to say about that.  He said she's 'lovely' (in a very early conversation, it's not like I didn't know she existed, I just don't know what the situation is - She is probably brilliant and gorgeous and everything else I can project when I feel weird or wanting).   Of course, what goes for one....

Went to McGeary's. Tess from Lark Tavern welcoming everyone, and we sat outside.  Burger and a beer.  Talked a little bit, and went back to the 14th floor.  No HG guilt in evidence.

Went to the ghetto chopper after for some milk and cookies for him.

Then I flew away to Texas in the morning. Timing is everything.

Meeting J

Crowne Plaza, walking out of the lobby doors as I walked up.  What a nice surprise -He is who he said he is, looks just like his picture.

Tall, has that easy way of moving, nice smile..We have talked so often that it didn't feel weird at all...

Walked over to Katrinella's Bistro, the go-to place downtown.  Nice dinner, easy conversation. Wine.

He is a hand holder, a walk on the outside kind of a guy.  I like that.

Walked back to the CP- the view from the 14th floor is lovely. (Better at night)

Wine Group at the Garden Bistro

C, H and I went early to have dinner - the Table Hopping blog has given this place great reviews and it was worth a try.  Hanger Steak and pomme frites.  Good flavor, but of course it was better at Provence, but it was a lot less expensive here, (again, of course!)  Saw Turangaleela, whom I haven't seen in ages, although maybe it was just since May or June.  Some new people, but didn't really mingle much. As usual, lots of last minute cancellations and probable no-shows. I don't know how they could have fit 55 people in this little bar anyway! 2 glasses of delicious Pinot Noir.

The Water's Edge

Dinner at The Water's Edge Lighthouse in Scotia with some peeps from work.  Food very good, service so slow - She was nice, personable, but maybe understaffed?  I could relate - Hey, can you bring me my IV please, pain meds, ice chips?

Nice time though, disecting the state of the workplace and catching up on family details, vacations, weddings, and just being together...

Is that employee survey really anonymous?

long day at work

After 12 hours with wall to wall people leading to a 7 patient assignment for most of the day...this is exactly how I feel.

New toy - Kitchen Aid mixer

This wonderful new toy came to my house yesterday.  The UPS man mighta got a hernia lugging it - geez it's so heavy!

Whipped up some oatmeal cookies today to try it out.  OMG, I'm in love.

Day-Off Inertia

I have millions of things to do around here.  Here I am sitting here.  Watched one episode of The Closer.  I love that Deputy Chief Brenda Lee Johnson...read 10 pages of my book, and one magazine.  Snacked a lot and resisted taking a nap 'cause I didn't want to WASTE TIME! Isn't that funny?

Well, tomorrow is a 12 hour day at little e, and next week it's back to hell...oh I mean work haha.

JJ Rafferty's on a first date

Met Michael #4 at Raffertys last night.  He was a nice surprise, in that we had some easy conversation and a laugh.  I had a Newcastle, he had Bud bottles.  If that's the worst thing, then that's pretty good....Unfortunately, our schedules will never connect!  Still, it was nice to be out with a person that exceeded my drink date expectaions!

The American

Saw this tonight with CM. Yes, I picked it - George Clooney as an assassin - guns, action, beautiful women - hey, what's not to love, right? IT WAS TERRIBLE! Slow, uneventful really, and I guess I want to see George Clooney with a twinkle in his eye and showing off that wiseass smile. Nope, never even cracked a smile. Although, CM and I did have a few great laughs just because it was so terrible.

I am the kite

Wish I was here again.
