Saw Alejandro Escovedo and the Sensitive Boys play the Egg on Sept. 30th. I am pretty new to his music, but heard Anchor from the new record and really just got hooked. 'Street Songs of Love' - have been playing it non-stop. Every track is great, and there really aren't too many albums like that.
The most awesome thing was that the entire night was perfect, start to finish. First, did the student rush - ticket for half price ($14) and it was in the second row (ok, a little off to the side, but really, it was the Swyer theater) Second, parked free on the street right by the museum (yea!) Third, took the show poster from the pillar by the box office,( with the blessings of the usher) on the way IN..(and I walk out of the elevator and there's AE just reading the paper) and Fouth - man, this show rocked - like I was shocked how truly blown away I was - I think all shows are good, right, but wow - this was unbelievably great. I remembered the flip, and nobody said anything about it. Only videoed this one song though, and it's in the last post.
So after the show, AE comes out, sits at the table right in front of me - I say - best show ever, thank you for that - Really? He signs the poster - por vida- I'll see you at Drew's in a few weeks - Just David and I will be playing - See ya then.
I really can't remember another time when everything fell into place to make such an unexpectedly great night. So surpassed every expectation.
